Luiz Calainho é empresário com negócios no segmento da Economia Criativa e controlador da holding L21 Corp, fundada em 2000 e que tem posições societárias nas seguintes empresas: Aventura Entretenimento, Teatro Riachuelo, Teatro Adolpho Bloch, Festival TIM Music Noites Cariocas, Blue Note Rio, Blue Note SP, Portal Vírgula, Gravadora/agência Musickeria, Mix RIO FM, Paradiso Rio FM, EcoVilla Ri Happy, Arena B3 e Teatro Alfa (a ser reaberto em 2025). Ele apresenta o podcast Marketeria e faz parte do Hall da Fama do Marketing da Abramark – Academia Brasileira de Marketing. Além disso, foi agraciado com a Ordem do Mérito Cultural – categoria Comendador – pela Presidência da República do Brasil.
